How to install the grip on the surfboard

How to install your surf traction grips?

Install the traction grips for your surfboard It's not complicated; you just need a few minutes and a little precision. You don't need to be an expert, but with this Flysurf guide you will achieve a perfect installation to improve grip and control in every surf session.

What do you need to install your grip?

  • Your surfboard (clean and free of wax or any other residue).
  • Our hexagonal patches that you will find in your Flysurf tote bag.
  • The guide piece included in the hex pad kit.

Below we summarize the simple installation in 3 steps.

The steps to follow for installing the grip on the surfboard

Step 1: distribution of traction pads

Before you peel off the pieces, place them on your board to visualize the layout pattern. Taking a photo with your phone will give you a visual reference when sticking them on. Clean the surface of your board properly to remove any residue, dust, or oil. Make sure to rinse well and let dry completely before proceeding.

Step 2: First pad

Start assembling the mosaic with the first hexagon. Use the top cap of the central keel and the stringer as a reference to correctly position this first piece. Remember not to touch the adhesive part with your fingers to avoid reducing the adhesion.

Step 3: Glue the rest of the pads

Following the guide included in your pack Flysurf hexagonal pads, continue placing the remaining hexagons along your board. This process is ideal for both softboard and fiberglass models. Carefully position each sticker, ensuring even coverage.

Partially peel the liner away from the adhesive and press firmly onto the board. Slowly remove the rest of the liner while applying even pressure across the surface, especially around the edges. Use a spatula or roller to maximize adhesion.
